StarCraft 2 will not feature LAN play. In other news – South Korea explodes!!!

This is commonly referred too as 'Openly mocking'!

In a fit of almost parity with the other madness going on in the gaming industry at the moment (following Valve *potentially* re-negging on the non-existent agreement to upgrade L4D4Free and Epic abandoning the PC for console lulz), Blizzard have announced that StarCraft 2 (sequel to probably the best selling RTS of the 20th century & quite possibly the choice poison of the South Korean dating scene) will not feature offline play over the trusty ol' 100MB link AT ALL.

ZOMG TGP RTM: Many acronym’s abused as ZCS’s latest opus released

Time Gentlemen, Please

After a frankly ludicrous development cycle for what started as an expansion pack, Zombie Cow Studios (comprised as they are of Dan Marshall, Ben Ward and the token silent partner of dubious political, ethnic and/or extra-terrestrial origin) have released their second adventure game, Time Gentlemen, Please.

Sequel to the donationware Ben There, Dan That (What?  You haven't played it?  Well, what are you waiting for you damn fool), the New Adventures of Ben & Dan sets out to test the limits of AGS's error parser by implementing (just in case the title didn't give it away) time travel.

Yes, as if the botched Terminator franchise wasn't a good enough turn off for any aspiring fiction writer even considering implementing pre-destination paradoxes into their scripts, ZCS have persevered and given us £2.99's worth of indie-venture™, which can be purchased now from the official site.  Not sure about it?  Try the demo here.

But wait, were you one of the few who actually understood the concept of donationware, seeking to reward Dan Marshall for his programming prowess (and fuel Ben Ward's crack habit) by giving Zombie Cow money for BTDT?  Well, keep your wallet firmly closed, since you should have a free complementary copy in your electronic mailbox.  Gotta love PR.

Thems Fighting Words! – Activision threatens Sony

"Just like that..."Anyone would think this was goddamn Formula 1 at the moment...

Activision CEO and professional munchkin Bobby Kotick has charged Sony with reducing the premium entry fee of their console or face the worlds largest third-party publisher removing support for the format.

Reasons cited include the heightened development costs vs. return of investment when compared to the über-popular shovelware casual platform that is the Wii or the Xbox 360 (with its user-friendly & speedy development tools that also allow easier porting to the Windows platform).

What did GOG start?!: GIG founded – bringing WoG to retail in EU

Great Indie Games - We're as unsure as him!Mastertronic (that lovely bunch of budgety wubble bunnies founded in the early 80's) have unveiled a new initiative & product line called Great Indie Games.

Aiming to do for the independent developer types what Good Old Games did for the abandonware movement (with a similarly catchy acronym) - get them into places where nobody ever thought possible - in this case, retail!

Is your computer good enough for Street Fighter IV?

Fight!

Street Fighter has always been about the smoothest possible gameplay to keep the flow going and the fourth entry into the premier fighting series continues that tradition.

Too make sure that your Personal Computer can keep up when the game hits the Games for Windows: Live platform early next month, Capcom have released a benchmark tool that will run through 3 intensive fights (which are, unfortunately, pre-recorded, so play out the same regardless of how many times you gawp at them) and a small scene with 8 or so fighters on screen.

Legally Binding: PEGI replaced BBFC as defacto rating in UK

This image rated 16 by PEGI due to: - Discrimination, Violence

After much deliberation (and even mucher tax payers money), the Digital Britain report has been released by the UK government.

In amongst all the kerfuffle about preventing Guybrush & LeChuck funderising their terrorist buddies and stealth taxing the internet-less to subsidise the copper upgrades across the country to finally allow every sheep in Wales to receive their 2MB of 'crucial' broadband (which is now more important than water, air, electricity and, surprisingly, Duck Islands according to the PM), the government has ruled that the PEGI system will take over as the required AND legally enforcable rating system for games.
