GDC Biggie!: Modern Warfare 2 Trailer

Modern Warfare 2

First World at War dropped numbers from its title, now the latest 'official' (i.e. developed by Infinity Ward) Call of Duty game seems too have dropped the whole Call of Duty brand all together!

The big reveal at the GDC was, essentially, the teaser trailer and the release date - a solid 11.10.09, which could be either 11th October or 10th November, depending on what you consider the 'right' date format (or even 09th October 2011, if the world was one giant SQL database!).

If that namby pamby Audiosurf doesn't cut it or that iPhone rip-off just screams 'dis-respect', then fear no more, for Aspyr & Activision have announced Guitar Hero: World Tour for PC & Mac, due in the summer.

No word on whether you definitely need a new proprietary controller or whether Xbox/PS3 ones will be compatible, but hey, there's always room for more price gouging!

Wanted: Weapons of Fate Trailer

What the fuck have you done lately?

Wanted: Weapons of Fate is going to be an interesting one.  Existing as it does, half-way between movie and graphic novel, it exists in its own little world of violence and destruction.

Sure, Wesley is an Assassin, not a Super-Villian and there doesn't seem to be a guy made purely out of shit, but that suit wasn't in the movie and with a difficulty called 'Pussy', it's clear that it's not 100% (belated) movie tie-in fodder.

Got Psyched?: Wolfenstein Trailer

The best way to avoid detection in Nazi Germany was to dress as a 60's greaser, apparantly...

Wolfenstein has already been 'rebooted' once, in the form of the successful and quite good (providing you ignore the boss battles) Return to Castle Wolfenstein, but now Raven are back with the follow-up, cunningly named just 'Wolfenstein' (so that newbies to the great-great-great-grandfather of Halo won't be scared of it because it doesn't have Master Chief on the cover).

Despite blatantly ripping off features seen in many a game over the years, including in-situ dimension hopping (see: Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver), free form environments and the entire WW2 genre as a whole, Wolfenstein looks like a bit of a hoot and is probably as close to a decent Occultist-Nazi-bashing-sim we're going to get in lieu of a true sequel to Rise of the Triad (or a decent Hellboy game).
