Cyanide: “Games Workshop licenses ripe for plundering”

One Hundred and EIGHTY!Eurogamer have posted an interview with Cyanide Games (Blood Bowl), discussing the prospect of drilling into the Nottingham based companies rich history of side-stories and alternative universes.

"If Games Workshop continues to trust us, then sure, why not," Cyanide's Antoine Villepreux told Eurogamer when asked if the collaboration might continue. "They have got other 'forgotten' IPs that we think deserve videogame adaptations."

Whilst I hesitate to recommend wholesale plundering of licenses for the sake of making a quick buck, Warhammer Quest is ripe for a proper RPG, Necromunda & Gorka Morka would be brilliant as strategy games (the latter featuring user-generated vehicles) and we all, deep down, want a new official Space Hulk game.

Blood Bowl is due in the summer, although it might contain 'some DRM'.  *sigh*  Why can't people learn from ACE Team's example.

An offer that’s too good to refuse?: Mafia II Gameplay footage **UPDATED**

Not the best place too be, is it?

Personally, I felt Mafia was one of the best games ever made.  Sure, it had radical difficulty spikes, inconsistent visuals and at times stereotypically poor voice-acting, but the story was majestic and the tense gunplay & realistic driving model gelled almost perfectly.

7 years on and a sequel is nearly upon us - Set in a period spanning the 1940's & 50's, the game builds on the prequel by implementing a cover system (ho hum), recharging health (boo!) and a significantly improved engine, offering realistic movement & graphics without sacrificing  detail & realism (yay!).

Trailer after the cut (which contains a lot of swearing, so cover the little ones ears)...

UPDATED - Now with official footage.

I have no mouth but must Screen (sorry…): BioShock 2 Screenshots

bs2candy

A veritable splurge of BioShock 2 screens have hit the net, all of which can be found below.

Several of them are stills from the trailer, allowing a closer look at the Big Sister and the underwater sequence, whilst others fill-out details such as what you look like as a Big Daddy (disappointingly normal) and the new black/white options regarding the Little Sisters (disappointly...  disappointing).

Thanks RPS.

Lego Rock Band Announced – First Screens

legorbWarner Bros have announced Lego Rock Band for 360, PS3, Wii and DS.

The game aims to be a "family friendly" take on Rock Band and of course, is full of little lego characters and oozing with charm.  The game will feature lots of customisation as you would expect from Lego and promises humour too.

Bionic Commando Re-Arms

Seems like the kind of guy who pisses people off...

Granted, the title of this post may be seen as 'mis-leading' - Bionic Commando: Re-Armed, the remake, has already been released for its target platforms.

Despite being incharge of said remake, GRIN (who recently put out Wanted: Weapons of Fate & are currently incharge of the Terminator: Salvation tie-in) have also been chugging away at this full new-gen reimaging of the side-scrolling shooter.

GameTrailers have a preview, with commentary, which is linked after the cut.

Exploderising Nazis!: Wolfenstein Intro

HIYA NAZI'S!!!

Not a lot of really interesting dirt has been dug about Wolfenstein - it all seems pretty generic, what with its 'Ripped from the pages of Soul Reaver' dimension hopping, Raven's trademark solid but unspectacular tried-and-tested gameplay & everyone's favourite bad guys - Nazis!

The full intro has been released via Game Trailers and can be found after the cut...

Atari does it again: Riddick Copy Protection Controversy

Atari News! And it was all going soooooo well...

After generating huge amounts of positive hype following the salvation of both Riddick: Dark Athena & Ghostbusters from the murky depths of development purgatory following Actizzard-gate, Atari seemed to be on track to score two successive hits.

Only, as usual for Atari, they fucked it up...  again!

Veni, Vidi, Da Vinci? : Assassin’s Creed 2 titbits

Two Knives!

Following a smart teaser that snuck onto the net earlier in the week (read more to see it), more information about Assassin's Creed 2 has surfaced following the big reveal in the new issue of Game Informer.

In a nutshell, the sequel moves from the 12th century Crusades to 15th century Italy and follows the trials and tribulations of one Ezio Auditore de Firenze (another of Desmond's genetic relatives) as he more than likely assassinates his way across Florence whilst evading capture by sitting on a bench.
