Borderlands goes Cel Shaded

Borderlands New LookWhen Borderlands was last properly shown, it was a sort of gritty, grimy (and, unfortunately, fairly generic looking) effort.

Since then, the game has had a visual overhaul which has been revealed in this months PC Gamer (i’m assuming the US print edition) which Gearbox have claimed is to keep the games visual style as close to their concept art as possible.  The cynicist in me says its to differentiate the game from id’s RAGE, but i’m willing to give Pitchford & co. the benefit of the doubt.

Hot on the heels of the Scout & Heavy updates, themselves not inconsiderable, comes the latest TF2 update, this time catering for everyones long-range homicidal maniac.

Valve are selling this update as the biggest yet, including…

multiple new maps and a bunch of gameplay tweaks

Not much more information yet, but there is word that this update will be preceeded by at least one cross-class update that will bring new content to all classes (which most of the internet prophets will no-doubt consider to be the absent grenades).

Can you bind blood?: Call of Juarez prequel trailer

Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood

I picked up the original Call of Juarez for next too nothing in a Steam sale a while back.  I never finished it, largely because the OTT pseudo-religious fun that was the bible-quoting gunfighter Rev. Ray was totally overshadowed by the intolerable FPS platforming involved in Billy’s levels.

Still, Techland are back to have another crack at the story, setting the next game as a prequel which focuses on Ray and his brother (who shares all of his traits, hopefully meaning minimal strange rope-based platforming action).
