Throw away your XP – Windows 7 reaches ‘RTM’, TR review.

Windows 7I know Computers N Stuff is largely a gaming blog, but it’s worth looking at the bigger picture every so often…

Windows 7 is coming, Microsoft have its sights on deprecating Windows XP and making up for Vista in one fell swoop and, well, it just might manage it.

Techradar have posted their definitive review of the Release To Manufacture version of the new Operating System.

I’ve personally been using both the Beta and Release Candidates on a work laptop and the Performance is up (even compared to XP), portables last longer due to much cleverer power management, touch screens are heavily supported OOB and everything seems have been given the right nips, tucks and general tidying up to make everything a much more rounded OS.

TR’s final verdict -

Windows 7 combines the security and architectural improvements of Windows Vista with better performance than XP can deliver on today’s hardware. No version of Windows is ever perfect, but Windows 7 really is the best release of Windows yet.
