By Andrew Bryant, March 26, 2010 0 Industry News

Allistair Darling, that funny guy who lives in #11 and allegedly cultivates weevils in his eyebrows, has set out plans for tax breaks for British entertainment industries, of which the computertronic amusement industry is part.… Read More…

Witching Hour – The Witcher 2 Debut

By Andrew Bryant, March 23, 2010 1 PC

CDProjekt RED have released the debut trailer for their ‘mysterious new project’…  So mysterious, they even refused to acknowledge its existence despite a shareholder video demonstration leaking to the internet.

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is coming to PC (and possible console) sometime late 2010/early 2011 and is the sequel to one of the better proper RPGs to come out in recent years.… Read More…

Formula Vroom – F1 2010 Developer Diary

By Andrew Bryant, March 22, 2010 0 PC, PS3, XBOX 360

Codemasters have released the first of [insert number here] development diary videos for their upcoming ‘simu-cade’ of the top level of motorsport.

Following on from F1 2009 (last years PSP/Wii game) F1 2010 signifies the first official F1 game on a Playstation since 2007, a PC since Grand Prix 4 in 2002 (ah, memories) and an Xbox since, well, ever!

Codemasters are behind the wheel (*snort*) this time – jump the waist-high turnstyle that is the cut and see what the developers have to say…

Tier One Beard – Medal of Honor trailer

By Andrew Bryant, March 13, 2010 0 PC, PS3, XBOX 360

Now it seems that Activision have culled all respect and/or skill from Call of Duty development, it’s down to EA to give us innovative Modern Warfare titles…  How ironic.

A new Medal of Honor trailer, entitled ‘Tier One’ (after the cut) shows us most of what we know, in no particular order:

  • Guns
  • Combat
  • Beards
  • Combat Beards
  • Apache Gunships
  • Terrorism
  • Insurgency
  • Stealth
  • Night Vision
  • Quad Bikes
  • Booby Traps

GDC 2010 – Deus Ex drops ’3′ – now ‘Human Revolution’

By Andrew Bryant, March 12, 2010 1 PC, PS3, XBOX 360

Using ’3′ in the title was always a silly idea… after all, it was a prequel ffs!  Whatever next, Th4if?

Anyway, some marketing bod has obviously come to his/her senses, since GDC 2010 sees a bullshot teaser for the newly christened ‘Deus Ex: Human Revolution’ released into the wild by Squeidosnix or whatever we’re supposed to call them these days.

No gameplay, just typical pretentious exposition and CGI, it’s after the cut.

Nice shades…  JC would be proud!… Read More…

DLC scandal #473795 – BioShock 2 DLC already on the disc?

By Andrew Bryant, March 12, 2010 0 PC, XBOX 360

It’s happened before (*cough* Resident Evil 5) and will likely happen many many times to come, but nobody likes paying twice for what they’ve already paid for.

Rumour, coupled with an incredibly small download for something that ‘includes’ 20 new multiplayer trials and 2 new playable characters, states that the content that costs 400 Microsoft Funny Moneys might have already been included on the disc.

Those dastardly miscreants!  Maybe this ‘DLC’ should be re-branded as ‘AICBWTWBBAI’ (or ‘Already Included Content, But We Thought We’d Be Bastards About It’)!… Read More…

GDC 2010 – War for Cybertron interview

By Andrew Bryant, March 12, 2010 1 PC, PS3, XBOX 360

War for Cybertron is edging closer and keeps looking better and better.  What’s more, High Moon Studios are fans of the Transformers metaverse and seem to want to do things right.

In an interview with Game Trailers at the GDC (after the cut), Matt Tieger relates the Civil War back story and the backwards-up approach taken when developing the game (‘get a good game working, then stick a license on top’, as opposed to ‘here’s some money and a license, get it working by next week’).

If this works, it could be very, very good, especially when 3-way co-op, 2 … Read More…
