  • Thousands of customers who pre-ordered the Guitar Hero: World Tour band pack turned up to GAME stores all around the country today to find that the free bass guitar controller they were meant to receive was not available.

GAME staff were frustrated to find that the deliveries of stock could barely cover the pre-orders let alone demand for the game's full instrument pack. Furthermore there was no sign of the free bass guitar controllers that were to be added to the pre-order pack.

It is currently unclear whether or not the chain will be able to supply the extra contoller to all the customers who pre-ordered them.

RockPaperShotgun have nicely pointed out that 2D Boy's magnum opus, World of Goo, is heading for final approach on european shores, with both Retail and Steam releases imminent for PC & Wii/WiiWare.

If you haven't already bought it direct from their online store (you know who you are, heathens), then expect to find it boxed in-store by the end of the year.  Good Times!

On a related note, the above article includes a quote from 2D Boys Ron Carmel that of the ~150,000 people who have played the game, over 90% are pirated copies.

Sad news indeed, which only gives weight to the faceless corporate types who brand PC gamers as pirates unwilling to pay for stuff unless they have too. Bad Times!

Far Cry 2 has narrow view of the world

A little over a year ago, in a major startling development for the industry, a game was released...  A relatively minor spectacle, it crept in from somewhere left-field relatively unnoticed and radically under-hyped, landing on a few different platforms.  It was called BioShock and it didn't like Widescreen monitors/TV.

Much hilarity ensued and after much accusation of widescreen-ism, 2K relented and patched a toggle into the game enabling everyone to see an extra 10o of visualitude either side, allowing a glimpse of Jacks dislocated wrench shoulder where the weapon designer cut corners.  Anyway, after that minor debacle (satiated by a community hack arriving effectively on the day of release), the issue went away and everyone went back to gaming.

Fast foward to October 2008.  Far Cry 2 is released and there's a taste of deja vu in the air.

  • Rock Band instrument pack gets price cut

EA has sent along word that as of friday, the Rock Band instrument pack will start to retail for £110.

This is ahead of the game launching on PS2, PS3 and Wii.

Now to just wait a long time for Rock Band 2.

Nintendo have released Super Mario RPG onto the european virtual console.

This Squaresoft classic has never made it to europe before and is bloody good so go download it now!

As it is a hanabi festival title, it costs more than the average SNES game, and will set you back 900 points and is well worth it!

  • Quick Fire Reviews: Issue 1

We get a lot of games sent to us for Review here at Computers N Stuff, and unfortunately we don't get the time to review them all.

Lately, we'd been getting more than usual, and with me redesigning the site and relaunching, i just didn't have time to review a lot of the games that we were sent. So with that in mind, and so i don't let down the fantastic PR people who send me these games. I've decided to do Quick Fire Reviews, so basically a couple of lines about why i think you should get the game, and a quick rating.

I'm not intending this to be the way i write all my reviews, but it's so that i can at least say i review everything sent to me - just i might not be able to do a full review. There's some "big" games in here, i'm not just reviewing the "crap" ones.
