Mass Effect 3 Official (but Not Officially Official)

By Andrew Bryant, December 10, 2010 1 PC, PS3, XBOX 360

Given how Mass Effect 2 ended (and all the posturing about the ‘Shepard Arc’ being a trilogy of games), we all knew Mass Effect 3 was coming.

I don’t suppose anyone expected it quite so soon, but BioWare have been teasing a new game for a while.  The internet was generally predicting it to be a Mass Effect MMO or (more obtusely) a sequel to BioWare’s first game, the mech sim Shattered Steel .

All the teaser evidence had seemingly pointed to a reveal at the 2010 VGA s on Saturday 11 th (tomorrow), but some guy in EA’s Store … Read More…

Biomechanical Man – Deus Ex: Human Revolution Trailer, Screens

By Andrew Bryant, November 18, 2010 0 PC, PS3, XBOX 360

Of the few games coming out in 2011 I’m looking forward to, Human Revolution tops the list.

Eidos Montreal are making all the right noises about the game, making a point to emphasize the choice offered in approaching the various situations presented.

A pseudo-proper gameplay trailer has been released, offering a stealth-in/action-out segment with fleeting views of the augmentation interface, the inventory (grids are back!) and hacking.

Find it, and some new screens taken from it, after the cut.

(Thanks to RPS for the screenshots)… Read More…

Record-breaking Fail – Troubled APB Shuts Down

By Andrew Bryant, September 16, 2010 1 Editorial, PC

In what is clearly a record for an already over-saturated market, All Points Bulletin, the hybrid MMO/shooter from the beleaguered Realtime Worlds, has closed down after less than three short months in the wild.

The internet already has a compelling lawsuit-load of evidence of the many failures at Realtime Worlds that lead up to this point, not least this blog currently being maintained by ex-staffer Luke Halliwell, who vents his thoughts quite vigourously at the mis-management that clearly went on behind the scenes.

Regardless, following a month of administration and a clear inability to find a rescue buyer, the decision … Read More…

Green Flu – Left 4 Dead ‘Sacrifice’: Part 1 released

By Andrew Bryant, September 15, 2010 0 Mac, PC, XBOX 360

Jokes & boycotts aside, Left 4 Dead is still very much alive.  Valve are releasing ‘The Sacrifice’ DLC in October (for both Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2) and, in typical Valve fashion, they’re doing it in a spectacular way.

This time, we get a humongous comic graphic novel, granularly released over 4 weeks, documenting the aftermath of the military rescue at the end of Blood Harvest, the origin of the plague & the survivors plight.

Episode 1 features Louis.  His first encounter with a zombie is on the loo, which may very well explain his demeanour.
