Green Flu – Left 4 Dead ‘Sacrifice’: Part 1 released

By Andrew Bryant, September 15, 2010 0 Mac, PC, XBOX 360

Jokes & boycotts aside, Left 4 Dead is still very much alive.  Valve are releasing ‘The Sacrifice’ DLC in October (for both Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2) and, in typical Valve fashion, they’re doing it in a spectacular way.

This time, we get a humongous comic graphic novel, granularly released over 4 weeks, documenting the aftermath of the military rescue at the end of Blood Harvest, the origin of the plague & the survivors plight.

Episode 1 features Louis.  His first encounter with a zombie is on the loo, which may very well explain his demeanour.

Consequently, they have never been solved by a human.

That’s where you come in.

‘Should have bet on Duke…’ – Duke Nukem Forever actually to be finished, released!

By Andrew Bryant, September 8, 2010 0 PC, PS3, XBOX 360

Seriously…  Not 2-3 months ago, placing money on Duke4Ever actually being released could have probably netted you a large amount of money!

Anyway, Duke’s back, Gearbox are in the driving seat and there’s a provisional multi-platform release date of ‘Early 2011′.

Boobs, bombs and bitching badassery seems to be the order of the day (as it should), with Duke facing off against the usual collection of paranormal and mutated enemies with a selection of firepower and a truck with the Duke Nukem symbol on the back.

Still not convinced? You can also pee in urinals and there are twins dressed … Read More…

New Xbox 360 controller announced – Happy Chibi Ken is happy

By Andrew Bryant, September 1, 2010 1 XBOX 360

Shōryūken! The guy to the right is Ken. He fights streets or something…

He is also very happy at the moment!  “Why?” I hear you ask..?

Well, Microsoft have just announced that there’s a new wireless controller for the Xbox 360 on the way.

Key changes include rejigged concave bumpers, shiny chromed silver accents, fiddled analogue stick tops and silver-coloured buttons instead of the primary colours of old (no word on whether the system will recognise the new pads and change all the button prompt colours).

Oh, they’ve also fixed the rubbish D-Pad, meaning whenever Ken wants to hadouken in Street … Read More…

By Barry Hodgson, July 20, 2010 0 XBOX 360

Microsoft have announced that the Kinect will launch in November for a RRP of £129.99.

It comes bundled with Kinect Adventures – so the initial hit isn’t too bad but it’s still about £30 more than it really should have been.

Microsoft also confirmed that the new Arcade equivalent will go on sale on the 20th August and will again feature no hard drive and will come with 4GB of internal memory. It will retail for £149.99. There will also be a £250 Kinect bundle of the new 4GB Model and Kinect when Kinect launches. … Read More…

“A Note from Aperture Science” – Portal 2 E3 event cancelled

By Andrew Bryant, June 2, 2010 1 PC, PS3, XBOX 360

Dear Subject Name Here,

Aperture Science is pleased to inform you that we have partnered with Valve to announce the gala CANCELLATION of the June 14 Portal 2 event at the Regal Theater. The event will be replaced by a surprise. And even though the cancellation of the event certainly counts as a surprise, we are pleased to further announce that the cancellation of the event is not THE surprise. However, per International treaties regarding the definition of the word “surprise”, of which both Aperture Science and Valve are signatories, the time, date and content of the actual surprise will

F.E.A.R. 3 Co-Op First Look – **Live Action Video Warning**

By Andrew Bryant, June 2, 2010 0 PC, PS3, XBOX 360

We know F.E.A.R. 3 is coming , the promotional box art is stupid, John Carpenter is directing live-action cutscenes and Point Man still has no name, but compensates… with a beard!

Obvious we will have to wait until release to see if the problems of F.E.A.R. 2 have been stamped out, but in the mean time, here’s some footage of Data from Star Trek… ON FIRE!

No, seriously, it’s the third trailer for F.E.A.R. 3, this time starring Paxton Fettel, which outlines how the two halves of the co-op experience combine – Whilst Fettel lines them up with telekinetic powers … Read More…

By Andrew Bryant, May 3, 2010 0 PC, PS2, XBOX 360

Don’t worry…  It’s actually officially F.E.A.R. 3…  F.3.A.R. is just on the box art.

Still, when will ‘marketing’ learn that putting txtsp34k in our titles doesn’t make the game more ‘hip’ or ‘cool’…  It just makes the people who made the decision look like fucking tools!

Anyway, F.E.A.R. 3 has been announced for Xbox 360, PS3 and Windows, due to hit towards the end of the year.  Under development at Day 1 Studios (MechAssault, Fracture, the console ports of the original F.E.A.R.) with supervision by series creators Monolith and, curiously, John Carpenter.

Featuring co-op play starring Fettel and *sigh* the … Read More…
