Who knew being the head honcho of a big multi-national games publisher conglomerate could be so fun!

Bobby Kotick has opened his mouth again, this time slagging off his arch-nemesis Electronic Arts (amongst the many other companies that stand in the way of him obtaining more money for his vast money bin).

During an interview with EDGE, the demon lord himself proclaimed that Electronic Arts are the real evil in the game publishing world, suffocating purchased developers as they attempt to crowbar them into their corporate structures.

That’s right people, after over 12 years, Actizzard (nee Blizzard) have pumped out the next instalment of e-sporting RTS & sci-fi epic StarCraft II (well, part of it anyway).

In related news, nobody in South Korea turned up for work today! Officials are currently investigating whether the two items are linked…

Wings of Liberty, essentially the Terran single-player campaign and the full multi-player component (sans LAN gaming ofc.) are now out in the wild in physical and (absurdly priced) digital forms.

We’re still waiting for our copy to arrive, so there might be some thoughts in the near future.… Read More...

Infinity Ward, the gurus behind the good (or ‘sorta alright’, depending who you ask) parts of the Call of Duty series, have been raided by their slave paymasters at Activision.

Reports state that security guards were posted at the entrance to the offices, el-presidente’s for life Zampella & West have been sacked for ‘breaches of contract & insubordination’ and a giant mechanical gorilla unleashed by the former bosses is current terrorising down-town Encino. Of course, the latter may not be true, as reports from the scene are sketchy at best!

Whether this is related to either the handling of Modern … Read More...

Obviously not content with HMV snapping the UK rights to the mega-expensive Sex-pest Edition of Modern Warfare 2, GAME have lept in there to attempt to re-assert themselves as numero-uno in the high-street Modern Warfare 2 Special Edition war.

Called the Veteran package, it comes with the same ‘Hardened Edition’ as the Prestige Edition (meaning alongside the unique content, you get the game (*shock*), a Steelbook game case, art book and Call of Duty on XBLA/PSN), only instead of the bargain-basement night vision goggles & stand you get a doll…

Not any doll mind you, this is a 1/6th scale, … Read More...

Cast your minds back to the last, excessive special edition…

Thinking of the BioShock SE w. fake soundtrack & Big Daddy figure? Think bigger! Hows about the imminent Batman: Arkham Asylum SE with 1:1 Batarang & Wildstorm Art Book? Come on, you can do better than that!

Hows about Actizzard offering up Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (note the apparently re-introduced brand name) in a Prestige Edition, which includes:

In a fit of almost parity with the other madness going on in the gaming industry at the moment (following Valve *potentially* re-negging on the non-existent agreement to upgrade L4D4Free and Epic abandoning the PC for console lulz), Blizzard have announced that StarCraft 2 (sequel to probably the best selling RTS of the 20th century & quite possibly the choice poison of the South Korean dating scene) will not feature offline play over the trusty ol’ 100MB link AT ALL.

What started as rumour & speculation was confirmed by Blizzard in a response to Joystiq’s probing, with the company issuing … Read More...

Activision CEO and professional munchkin Bobby Kotick has charged Sony with reducing the premium entry fee of their console or face the worlds largest third-party publisher removing support for the format.

Reasons cited include the heightened development costs vs. return of investment when compared to the über-popular shovelware casual platform that is the Wii or the Xbox 360 (with its user-friendly & speedy development tools that also allow easier porting to the Windows platform).
