DLC scandal #473795 – BioShock 2 DLC already on the disc?
Mar 12th

It's happened before (*cough* Resident Evil 5) and will likely happen many many times to come, but nobody likes paying twice for what they've already paid for.
Rumour, coupled with an incredibly small download for something that 'includes' 20 new multiplayer trials and 2 new playable characters, states that the content that costs 400 Microsoft Funny Moneys might have already been included on the disc.
Those dastardly miscreants! Maybe this 'DLC' should be re-branded as 'AICBWTWBBAI' (or 'Already Included Content, But We Thought We'd Be Bastards About It')!
Like Giving a Shark a SMG – Mass Effect 2 ‘Firewalker’ DLC soon
Mar 7th

Bioware have teased us with the Hammerhead for a while no... First, they left a wide empty space in the Normandy's hangar. Now Ray Muzykae & Greg Zeschuk have conducted an exclusive interview with Gametrailers TV, during which they get very excited about the Firewalker DLC.
The hovering battle tank will feature in a chunk of fast-paced new DLC due on the Cerberus Network (meaning its free for 1st-hand purchases of the game) soon and will feature missions that involve shooting lots of Geth Colossi & Armatures in their over-sized optics.
Click here to watch the video. Just incase you don't have it yet, our Mass Effect 2 review will be up shortly. Keep your eyes peeled for our thoughts on this years biggest game yet.

Left 4 Dead 2 – DLC 1 – (Leeds United 4)
Dec 15th

We're hoping to get our Left 4 Dead 2 review out soon, but other commitments have held that up. Now the excuses are done, it's time to mention the first DLC pack for the zombie co-op sequel.
Zoey, Bill, Francis and Louis are due to appear in the first pack, which goes by the name 'The Passing' and features new single & multiplayer content for the game on both formats.
Pricing is currently ambiguously 'TBA', but will probably follow the old 'free for PC, chargeable for Xbox 360 because Microsoft smell' pattern, unless Valve are ready to trigger yet another PR cluster-fuck by charging across all formats.

The Last Stand-ening: DoW2 patched to 1.8 – delivers promises
Oct 15th

The 1.8 patch for Dawn of War (colloquially referred too as 'The Last Stand' patch) is live on Steam, bringing with it (unsurprisingly) the Last Stand game mode along with a load of other tweaks too the game.
The mode allows up to 3 players (playing as Space Marine Captains, Ork Mekboys or Eldar Farseers) to face off against progressively harder waves of Tyranids. Stats are tracked, XP is earned and your favourite warrior(s) are stored against your Live account, such is the way these days.

Fable 2 nibbles available now
Sep 29th

Fable 2 has been sliced into pieces for release over Xbox Live and the first is available for free! Barry really liked the game back when he reviewed it last year, so people who haven't touched it yet have no excuse not to dip in and try it now.
According to Major Nelson, the episode contains the entire game up till the end of the 'young adult' period. Further episodes can be purchased to continue the game (think 'pseudo Game on Demand model') and, should you bite the bullet and snap up the game at retail, everything slots together nice and seamlessly.
An interesting thought is that this could pave way for a piracy-free PC release (probably entirely via GFW:Live if Microsoft have anything to do with it) of what might very well be the first game that Molyneux has delivered on since, well, ever!
Dawn of War 2 Content Bonanza
Sep 29th

Dawn of War 2 seems to be getting all the loving lately - the initial release wasn't overly hot, what with the awkward campaign and Games for Windows: Live bollocks, but several patches down the line and things are much improved.
The recent 'There is only War' update dramatically rebalanced the game, the imminent Last Stand update adds a co-op & hero-centric game mode too the mix and now Chaos makes a return too the mix with the first official expansion pack, cunningly titled 'Chaos Rising'.
The teasers for Chaos Rising and Last Stand are after the cut...
Left 4 Dead Crash Course hits – Microsoft screw pricing
Sep 29th
Valve have finally released Louis, Francis, Bill and Zoey back into the wild in a new official campaign for Left 4 Dead.
Set between (fan favourite) No Mercy & Death Toll, Crash Course attempts to copy L4D2's practice of linking the narrative of the campaigns by explaining how the duo trio erm, four survivors end up in the middle of nowhere following their rooftop escape from Mercy Hospital.
The campaign covers just two maps and is designed for quick-fire Versus games (as opposed to the more drawn-out marathon maps included).
Crash Course is available for free on PC via Steam and for 560 points over Xbox Live.
NB - Some admin kerfuffle somewhere down the line has meant it was released on XBL for 800 MSP. Major Nelson has advised everyone to not buy it at this price - changes have been made which are filtering slowly across XBL as I type.
