F.E.A.R. 2 DLC – insert ‘afraid of DLC’ joke here

fear2banner3

Pretty much as it says on the tin here...  WBIE have announced DLC for F.E.A.R. 2 on all platforms (well, all it was released on...  because giving Wii owners F.E.A.R. 2 DLC would be stupid, wouldn't it).

Not really much to go on re: content or price, but it will be available in April and comes with (at least) a new map-pack called Toy Soldiers (because Land of the Giants-style multiplayer maps are SOOOO original) and a 'premium theme & picture pack', which I'm going to go out on a limb and say is a 'console' thing.

Short, sharp and sweet really...

F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin Stuff – EPA Trailer & Demo Rumours

F.E.A.R. H.E.R.

In light of the continued absence of a sequel to one of Monolith Productions first games - Shogo M.A.D. - it seems we will all just have too make do with the upcoming sequel to the 2005 hit F.E.A.R.

The new trailer released at CES focuses on the EPA (which presumably means 'Enhanced Power Armour' or something) and how capable it is of blowing so much shit up in both Single & Multi-player game modes.

Also after the jump are two trailers released just before christmas that somehow got swept under the carpet in the mad release schedule - the former detailing the improvements made to the Lithtech engine powering the game and the latter as some cruel community christmas card that also just happens to feature some exclusive deathmatch footage - the teases...

UPDATE

There are a fair few rumours going around that a demo for all platforms is imminent.  Qore (that PSN-zine thing) dropped hints that they would have an exclusive PS3 demo sometime in the next week or two.  The post forced Monolith to play their hand, with this comment from Community Manager 'Yurei':

I can't give specifics on the release of the demo because of "marketing/pr strategy" but both consoles and pc will be getting a demo all around the same time. I'll release more specifics when I'm able. I've played the demo and it's a ton of fun. I can't wait for the Community to get their hands on it.

Here's hoping it's of the same calibre as F.E.A.R.'s demo, which was built up from several portions of the game to give a good flavour of what to expect.

F.E.A.R. 2 c.l.e.a.r.e.d. (for sale in Australia)

Australia - Land of Kangaroos!Determined to prove they're as inconsistent as ever, the Australian OFLC has decided to reclassify the recently banned sequel to Monolith's shooter as MA 15+, allowing its sale at retail (probably to minors).

Games on Net carries the article following breaking the story of the games ban-titude a month ago.

This change of heart probably has something to do with fact that the guy making the announcement, a one Trevor Griffin, carries the title Acting Classification Review Board Convenor, which could signify a change of management at the government department that has drawn a fair amount of flak over the recent years for its un-necessary strong handed dealing with video games, as evidenced by the enforced removal of the drug morphine from Fallout 3.

The official word is...

After considering extensive submissions and demonstrations of game play across all levels, the Review Board concluded that the level of violence in the computer game, whilst strong, could be accommodated within the MA 15+ classification.

The collective sighs of many a lucrative video game import business in Australasia could be heard for as far as Katmandu!
