Back in twenty-odd-five, an American computer game developer famous for kitsch 60s spy shooters and FPS based on cult Disney properties made a game about a girl. This wasn’t any normal girl though – this was a girl so wronged she took it out on the world.

Riding high on the tails of hype generated by the remakes of The Ring, Monolith’s game about a damaged girl with psychic powers, violent slow motion shootouts and a Special Forces group with the … Read More...

Pretty much as it says on the tin here… WBIE have announced DLC for F.E.A.R. 2 on all platforms (well, all it was released on… because giving Wii owners F.E.A.R. 2 DLC would be stupid, wouldn’t it).

Not really much to go on re: content or price, but it will be available in April and comes with (at least) a new map-pack called Toy Soldiers (because Land of the Giants-style multiplayer maps are SOOOO original) and a ‘premium theme & picture pack’, which I’m going to go out on a limb and say is a ‘console’ thing.

The announcement comes via the F.E.A.R. 2 Community site which has the following mini press-release:

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is excited to announce that F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin has officially “gone gold” on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC and will ship to retailers in North America on February 10, 2009.

The sequel to the critically-acclaimed supernatural first-person shooter F.E.A.R., F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin ushers in a new dimension of paranormal horror, cinematic combat and highly kinetic action.

The more astute out there may have noticed that Monolith and WBIE have put out demos of F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin for all 3 launch formats.

The Xbox 360 & PS3 versions are available over their respective networks, whilst the PC demo is available at all good download repositories.

Impressions after the cut…

We were planning to have our first proper CNS discussion over this, but seeing as Barry is busy with nappies and other undesirables, it’s down to me.

In light of the continued absence of a sequel to one of Monolith Productions first games – Shogo M.A.D. – it seems we will all just have too make do with the upcoming sequel to the 2005 hit F.E.A.R.

The new trailer released at CES focuses on the EPA (which presumably means ‘Enhanced Power Armour’ or something) and how capable it is of blowing so much shit up in both Single & Multi-player game modes.
