Less a Blizzard, more an Avalanche! – BlizzCon Deets
Blizzard don’t do things by half, even though their penny-pushing paymasters at that hideous Activision Vivendi conglomerate would rather the obscene amounts of money just keep coming in rather than being spent on frivolous events.
Still, BlizzCon is running and it’s giving us loads of Blizzard-related information.
This post will be updated as more crucial information comes to bear.… Read More…
Hellgate: London cast up the River Styxx
Looks like today’s foot of snow in London was as much trouble for denizens of hell as it was for all the bendy buses…
It’s been a while coming, despite efforts to save the game and turn it into a free-to-play effort, but the plug was finally pulled on the European servers yesterday, as outlined by several posters on the forums of Hellgate Guru and a short obituary on Hellforge, the D3 community that grew out of the collapse of HG:L.
So long Hellgate – we hardly cared about thee, with your stupid lifetime subscription option and poor gameplay.… Read More…
AoC server consolidation – Even the boobs can’t save it now!
I tend to avoid MMOs like the plague, but it’s hard to miss the hoo-hah surrounding Age of Conan.
It was heralded for its entire development as being the first MMO to be built for DirectX 10, packed full of hardcore adult content including nudity, violence and mature themes, coupled with a combat system more in-depth than the typical click-o-thon.
Boasting an official license for the revered Conan universe, the game was set to be, above all things, a WoW beater.
As pretty much predicted, it failed…… Read More…
Dungeon Keeper MMO announced – NetDragon at helm.

Yep, you read that right – EA, those ever lovable masters of needless license-squatting, are farming out the Dungeon Keeper I.P. to one of the many MMO factories that populate the far east (presumably on the same reclaimed landmass as that huge Nike factory and the place where your iPod was built).
NetDragon WebSoft Inc. is the name and money-driven online orgys for the crazy obsessive MMO market is their game (purveyor of many a licensed massively multiplayer game as they are, including the HOMM effort).
Nothing is really known about the game yet, so I’ll let the press … Read More…
Tabula Rasa going offline
Destination Games Tabula Rasa, brainchild of Richard ‘Lord/General/Insert-Title-Here British’ Garriott, is to shut down after just over a year of fairly poor performance in MMO circles.
The servers are due to get a tabula rasa of their own at the end of February next year, but from the 10th January, the entire game will be 100% free.
The official press-release and a link for existing subscribers is after the jump…… Read More…

BBBRRRAAAIIINNNSSS – WoW World Event heralds arrival of Lich King Expansion
Just like the Scourge Invasion that preceded the release of the Burning Crusade expansion back in 2007, Blizzard has started to spread the plagued tendrils of the Lich King (their words) amongst its server population as a prelude to the arrival of the long-awaited expansion to the biggest MMO the world has ever seen.
Perks apparantly include zombification (does WoW support location based damage?), plagues and much much n00b griefing!
WoW Insider has the full scoop here.… Read More…
Old, New, Borrowed, Twi’lek Blue? Star Wars: The Old Republic announced
In what seems to have been the internet’s laziestly kept secret after the new Macbook Pros, cornerstones of spacey RPG-ness Bioware and their new EA overlords have officially announced the long-rumoured-and-secretly-suspected Knights of the Old Republic MMO, now officially called Star Wars : The Old Republic.
In Star Wars: The Old Republic, players will explore an age thousands of years before the rise of Darth Vader when war between the Old Republic and the Sith Empire divides the galaxy. Players can choose to play as Jedi, Sith, or a variety of other classic Star Wars roles, defining their
