Jokes & boycotts aside, Left 4 Dead is still very much alive.  Valve are releasing ‘The Sacrifice’ DLC in October (for both Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2) and, in typical Valve fashion, they’re doing it in a spectacular way.

This time, we get a humongous comic graphic novel, granularly released over 4 weeks, documenting the aftermath of the military rescue at the end of Blood Harvest, the origin of the plague & the survivors plight.

Episode 1 features Louis.  His first encounter with a zombie is on the loo, which may very well explain his demeanour.

We’re hoping to get our Left 4 Dead 2 review out soon, but other commitments have held that up.  Now the excuses are done, it’s time to mention the first DLC pack for the zombie co-op sequel.

Zoey, Bill, Francis and Louis are due to appear in the first pack, which goes by the name ‘The Passing’ and features new single & multiplayer content for the game on both formats.

Pricing is currently ambiguously ‘TBA’, but will probably follow the old ‘free for PC, chargeable for Xbox 360 because Microsoft smell’ pattern, unless Valve are ready to trigger yet another … Read More...

Valve have broken cover with a blog post outlining just when the imminent sequel to last years #1 game will hit.

Valve seem to be using EST as the guideline for a change (i’m sure you can work it out from there) but I’d be surprised if there isn’t a hint of Valve Time in there somewhere.  Oh, there are survivor bios and a few weapon breakdowns hidden in the post too.

A Left 4 Dead 2 trailer/cinematic (possibly even the game intro) has crept onto teh intartubes and BOY is it really really good!

It’s hard to keep remembering that this is the same 5-year old engine that pushed Freeman’s renewed adventuring along.  Granted, it’s a rendered trailer, but Valve don’t tend to feature such…  ‘features’ unless they’re included in one way or another in game.  Left 4 Dead 2 is looking great and creeps onto Steam and Xbox 360 on the 18th November.

Despite what everyone’s opinions on the ‘early arrival’ of the sequel for Left 4 Dead, it doesn’t change the fact that Valve are at least trying to make the game different, what with the proper melee weapons (with added violence), new and more radical special infected (mainly designed around weeding out the exploits of the first game) and uncommon common infected who force you too mix up your playstyle a bit.

Still, I wish they’d stop demoing the game on the farking Xbox 360 (or at least get someone talented to play it)…
