That’s right people, after over 12 years, Actizzard (nee Blizzard) have pumped out the next instalment of e-sporting RTS & sci-fi epic StarCraft II (well, part of it anyway).

In related news, nobody in South Korea turned up for work today!  Officials are currently investigating whether the two items are linked…

Wings of Liberty, essentially the Terran single-player campaign and the full multi-player component (sans LAN gaming ofc.) are now out in the wild in physical and (absurdly priced) digital forms.

In a fit of almost parity with the other madness going on in the gaming industry at the moment (following Valve *potentially* re-negging on the non-existent agreement to upgrade L4D4Free and Epic abandoning the PC for console lulz), Blizzard have announced that StarCraft 2 (sequel to probably the best selling RTS of the 20th century & quite possibly the choice poison of the South Korean dating scene) will not feature offline play over the trusty ol’ 100MB link AT ALL.

Shacknews comes bearing news that Blizzard have unvealed two new screenshots, tentatively titled ‘Fire‘ and ‘Rain‘, which show off the new environmental & weather effects that feature in the RTS sequel.

No word on whether such environmental effects will play into the gameplay, nor when the first episode (yes, it’s episodic, get over it!) will actually be released, although most are expecting ‘Sometime in 2009′ to be the official word when an announcement is made.… Read More...
