What are you currently playing?

I'm really enjoying LA Noire. I've completed all the Traffic and Homicide cases, and i'm currently on my second case in Vice. I really get in to it, like when I was playing Shenmue.
How many cases is that, out of interest?

Glad you're still liking it :) we used to get in to it too (it's a good game to play with someone else who can suggest ideas etc) but as I say we kinda got bored ;)

And yes, no more Team Bondi. The PC release of the game still seems on, as ATI recently released a crossfire profile for it.

EDIT: Been playing lots of Deus Ex: Human Revolution all week. Just beat 3rd boss, so not far off. Lovely game, but it's a bit too long for my liking.

Looking forward to playing Space Marine today :)

Also, had a quick spin at Dead Island this week with Ataribaby (who still hasn't joined the forum!) - was goofy fun - but need to play it more cos it looks like it can get boring quick.

I think i'm now on the 16th case if I remember correctly, i'll have to double check.

I know Rockstar were involved with this game, so i'd imagine any sequel etc will be picked up directly by them or somebody else, don't you think?

On a scale of 1 to 10, exactly how underwhelming is it compared to the fantastic teaser trailer that was released a while back?

Compared to the trailer, I'd say 8. That trailer was too good for anything but the best of the best, which dead island isn't

Ignoring the trailer, and taking it as a game without that amazing teaser, then the best way to describe it is as one review put it: like the bastard child of fallout 3 (open world big map, rpg elements), far cry (island setting), and dead rising or condemned (melee visceral combat).

What it isn't, however, is an open world left4dead, no matter what the launch trailer makes you think.

The dead island trailer is talked about in this article.

Edit: This link specific to dead island:

Have to say I agree with the article. I'm fed up of game advertisers putting sad music over games, and drawing on emotions that are not at all related to the game. It's a cheap trick to get people to buy the game, and doesn't actually reflect the theme of the game.

I've just finished Bioshock 2, which I thought was absolutely excellent.

This week, for the princely sum of ten quid, I have aquired both Borderlands (complete with all the DLC) and Burnout: Paradise.

For more than that, I have also had to aquire an xbox 360 controller to play burnout with properly. This is completely worth doing. It has been absolutely ages since I've played a game that a) isn't focussed on killing (and yeah, if I will choose shooters ...) and :D is so much fun. I don't know what it is, but the game is an absolute blast. The graphics still have some pop (although given that I only recently upgraded to a laptop that could play anything not on 'low', I'm still being very impresed by how far everything has come in the last four years), and the game runs smoothly even on what still isn't the most powerful pc. The races are ok, marred by the lack of set routes to learn, but the stunts and the general driving around and mucking around mean that I'll be coming back to this for a while.

The last shooter I'd played before Borderlands and Bioshock 2 was quite possible Half Life 2 Ep 2, which makes me wonder whether all shooters have got better recently, or whether I'm just playing especially fun ones. Either way, running around shotgunning midgets has never been so fun.

I'd recommend all three games to anyone!

The music to Bioshock 2 is utterly awesome. In particular the theme that plays in the "good" ending practically brings a tear to my eye. I'm just gutted they only released the OST as part of the collector's edition of the game. I'd certainly buy it as a standalone release. I know there are copies on eBay, but I'd rather have a more legit source...

Company of Heroes: Tales of Valour

GTA 4

Counter-Strike Source

Ipad:

Rainbow Six

Crimson

Chess - looking forward to BattleChess being released!

Death Rally (Which is pretty damn good)

I liked Sid Meirs Pirates! on PC and I think the IPAD version is a good port but... the load times do let it down a little bit.

Too many games, too little time - isn't that always the way that everything comes at once.

Having to split my time between :-

Warhammer 40K Space Marine

Deus Ex - HR

Dead Island

Minecraft

And Bleach - Soul Ressurecion has just landed this morning.

I must start playing 1 at a time and complete it before moving to the next.

Playing a fair bit of Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance.

The community has developed their own lobby for it (in case GPGNet ever goes down), which works much more smoothly than GPG's offering and has a few notable improvements:

- You can now have 12 player games

- You can now have infinite observers

Check it out and possibly join me. Doesn't matter if you can't find your CD Key, the Lobby will let you in.

Yeah I read about that Gowerly, is there many using now then, or is GPG still where to go online for a game?

both are.

The ladder is better on FAF, but GPG seems to be the place to go for custom games (but do try to change that, we have the occasional 5v5 or 6v6)

Finally gotten around to playing LA Noire (I rented it from Lovefilm but it's been sat the shelf for a couple of weeks as I've been playing DX:HR).

I didn't really like it at first, the dialogue isn't particularly well implemented and doesn't flow like a proper conversation should and I don't like the trial and error needed to complete some of the objectives, but now I'm about halfway in and it's growing on me. I still hate the protagonist though, his acting is wooden and the character pretty unlikeable.

I also think I've guessed the killer already, unless the game is throwing clever red herrings at me, but Cole hasn't made the same connection so I can't do anything about it yet.

The facial animation is pretty damn impressive, although I've found that sometimes characters' eyes don't move properly and it gives them a creepy "uncanny valley" look.

If nothing else it is, at least, miles better than Heavy Rain, which was the last game in this sort of vein I was looking forward to and I was bitterly disappointed.

Bioshock 2 was so boring that I barely had the will to finish it... so repetitive towards the end and nowt intriguing about it at all.

I had to force myself to to finish Bioshock 2 also. Such an unnecessary sequel.

You think you've guessed the killer, but you'll be miles off :D

I really like the game. My best mate who completed it last week also said "The missions near the end get very different and you get to do some mint stuff, but I won't ruin it". So i'm quite excited to see what the fuss is about.

This is my problem too..
Got Mad World, Red Steel 2, Mini Ninjas and Boy & His Blob all on the go on Wii.

Then there's Max & The Magic Marker, World of Goo, Cut The Rope, Rainbow 6 and Zombie Infection on iPad still unfinished.

Thinking back, I still need to complete HL2:Episode2 on PC.. plus Armed & Dangerous and PoP:Sands of Time.

I never seem to have the time for PC gaming now though. ;)

Oh.. and I'm sure I have some Xbox games I didn't complete too.. Urgh..
