Sisters Laptop Kaput?

Question

Ok so sister has given me her laptop to look at. I'm going to look at it later today but symtoms are as follows:

- Won't boot up!

- Turns on with loud fan noise but nothing on screen.

Any initial thoughts? I'm going to plug my monitor in in case it's the screen that's gone. If it's not the screen though is it a major fault if nothing is being displayed? Not sure if it's even POSTing until I get to look at it. Cheers.

I don't know why, but the Superfish thing doesn't appear on the 50-30s, seems more common on the smaller ones, which is maybe because they're newer models or something. Academic really, as if you've got any sense, you rip out  all the manufacturer software and/or do a clean install. Though Microsoft seems determined to make Windows be all things to all men, when it should just be a bloody launchpad.

Fucking foofs.

If I ever have cause to buy a Lenovo I'll send the tossers a bill for the removal of malware.

I think I'll avoid them though.

I do rate Lenovo's really highly though. Their laptops are really well build and solid.

Perhaps they need to be solid to carry all the bloatware and malware?

;)
