External HD

Question

I'm in the market for some large, portable external storage but am completely clueless to the market.

Size wise 1TB would be ideal.

Any recommendations?

Cheers guys

We use external drives at work every day and we use Seagate hasn't let us down yet. Stay away from WD, thier USB drives draw quite a lot of power

I second the Seagate.... never had one go wrong on me - still have an old 250mb IDE based USB2 model that is plodding along. I have a 3TB one now.

Another question here is also do you want it to be usb or mains powered? 1TB usb powered would be more expensive but would be more portable..

Yup but you'll only get a 5400rpm disk over a 7200, although you may notice really.

After looking into them I plumped for a Samsun M3 1TB USB 3.0 from amazon.

Ordered at 6:55pm last night and will be delivered today - got to love amazon prime.

Thanks for the pointers guys
