Wolfenstein has already been ‘rebooted’ once, in the form of the successful and quite good (providing you ignore the boss battles) Return to Castle Wolfenstein, but now Raven are back with the follow-up, cunningly named just ‘Wolfenstein’ (so that newbies to the great-great-great-grandfather of Halo won’t be scared of it because it doesn’t have Master Chief on the cover).
Despite blatantly ripping off features seen in many a game over the years, including in-situ dimension hopping (see: Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver), free form environments and the entire WW2 genre as a whole, Wolfenstein looks like a bit of a hoot and is probably as close to a decent Occultist-Nazi-bashing-sim we’re going to get in lieu of a true sequel to Rise of the Triad (or a decent Hellboy game).
