At GDC, Hideo Kojima confirmed what everyone and their mothers already knew – The Phantom Pain (allegedly by Joakim Mogren and Moby Dick Studios) was in fact Metal Gear Solid 5.
Also, as if that wasn’t enough, the previously announced Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes is also Metal Gear Solid 5 (both make up MGS5).
The game sees Snake wake up after 9 years in a coma and under attack in the hospital. He spies someone who bears an uncanny resemblance to Psycho Mantis – whether this is real or a phanton (see how it cleverly ties in with the title!) remains to be seen.
The game is due for PS3/360 and is Open World – however it should be noted that the GDC demonstration was running on a PC so take that for what you will. My guess is it’ll also hit PS4 and the Next Xbox too.
