When I was little, I watched my friends brother playing R-Type on their Amiga. I swiftly asked for it for my Sega Master System, not expecting anything approaching the home ‘computer’ version.
This was a good move, as it was a much better version (even though it was lacking the Chris Huelsbeck soundtrack)… I still remember blasting off to fight the evil Bydo Empire to this day, incessant sprite flicker included!
Regardless, DotEmu recently brought the game, in all it’s force-y glory, to iOS devices. Now the French purveyor of much retro-gaming are following suit for the Android users out there.
The game will arrive on both Google Marketplace and Amazon’s App Store on September 12th, barring any last minute hiccups. It’s price is currently tbc.
