THQ has announced that there will a demo for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine. It will be available on Xbox 360, PS3 & PC. It will also be available on your format of choice on one of three dates.
To save you all from the tl;dr below, PC Gamers who have pre-ordered via Steam will get it early from the 18th August (hear that Ubisoft, you fucking clowns?!), with Space Marine ‘Honour Guard’ (hear that US of A, with your lack of u’s where they really belong?!), whatever they may be, getting it on the 22nd of August.
Next up comes the Xbox 360 and non-pre-ordering PC folk, who can download and play from the 23rd. PS3 owners will have to wait till the 24th.
A one-week format exclusive, coupled with a one-day community exclusive, seems needlessly elaborate for a demo, but hey, this is the games industry…

AGOURA HILLS, Calif. Aug 15, 2011 – THQ Inc. (NASDAQ: THQI) today announced that it will be releasing a playable demo for its upcoming 3rd Person Action/Shooter, Warhammer® 40,000®: Space Marine® on Xbox Live® online entertainment network, PlayStation® Network and Windows PC.
The Space Marine demo features two very different areas of the game. The first pits the player against an Ork horde outside the gates of a munitions factory. Armed with six devastating weapons, including the iconic bolter and lethal chainsword, the player will get to experience Space Marine’s seamless mix of melee and ranged combat first hand as they take on the rampaging invaders. The second area gives players a taste of the exhilarating Jump Pack sequences where the game’s hero—Captain Titus—takes to the skies to rain death from above.
The demo is planned to launch simultaneously for the Xbox 360®video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Windows PC on 23rd August and then on PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system on 24th August.
Players who have pre-ordered the digital PC version of Space Marine through Steam will receive an exclusive early access period starting on the 18th of August, running through the weekend. Steam will also be running a Warhammer 40,000 bundle sale at a very special rate during the same period. Check out STEAM for more details.
Space Marine ‘Honour Guard’ community members will also get the chance to play the demo early on August 22nd, 24 hours prior to the public launch. For more information on how to sign up to get the demo visit http://www.spacemarine.com/user/register and make sure you have registered with the Honour Guard.
About Space Marine
When wave after wave of savage ORKS descend upon the Forge World GRAIA, it is up to humanity’s greatest warriors to win the planet back.
They are SPACE MARINES, genetically modified, encased in hallowed armor, the equivalent of one hundred lesser men. They live only to defend the Imperium, and to slay its enemies in a war that never ends.
CAPTAIN TITUS, along with his comrades LEANDROS and SIDONUS, lead a detachment of these Space Marines onto the Forge World. There, they quickly discover that the fight against the Orks is not all that requires their attention. An Imperial Inquisitor named DROGAN needs help securing an experimental POWER SOURCE, before the Orks do so themselves.
