PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS gets a Gamescom Tournament

PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS (PUBG) is an Early Access phenomenon. Currently the most watched game on Twitch and the third most played on Steam, PUBG is now getting its first LAN event at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany. Eighty players will be competing for a prize pool of $350,000 prize pool.

This tournament will start August 23rd and end the 26th and will be broadcasted on ESL social media pages. Sets of three matches in Solo Mode, Duo Mode, Duo FPP (First-Person Perspective), and Squad Mode will have players competing for the highest overall score. While the exact structure has not been announced, ESL states there’ll be further announcements leading up to the competition.

For players interested in purchasing in-game vanity items, exclusive items will be sold starting August 3rd. Proceeds will go to supporting both the tournament itself and Bluehole selected charities. Players interested in meeting the developers of PUBG will also have the opportunity at this event.
