Final Fantasy XIV to launch on PS4 14th April

Square Enix have announced that Final Fantasy XIV will launch on PS4 on the 14th April.

Preceding the launch will be a beta to all PS4 users from the 22nd Feb. If you’re already playing on PS3 then you can transfer your character to the PS4 version for free, however once you swap over to the PS4 version, you cannot go back to the PS3 version (and why would you want to?).

Pre ordering the game also gets you access to the Early Access period which will run from April 11th – 13th.

At the launch for the PS4 version there will also be a new version of the collectors edition featuring the following things:

  • Special box featuring artwork by Yoshitaka Amano
  • Art Book – The Art of Eorzea: A Realm Reimagined
  • Special Soundtrack -The Sounds of Eorzea-
  • Seventh Umbral Era Special Movie Content Disc – The Waning of the Sixth Sun
  • Art Card Set
  • Themed Security Token
  • In-Game Items – Coeurl Mount, Behemoth Barding, Baby Behemoth minion, Helm of Light, Fat Chocobo Mount and Wind-up Moogle minion

Being an MMO, FF14 requires it’s own subscription with prices starting at £7.69 a month after your 30 Day Trial Period is up.

We will be taking a look at the PS4 version of Final Fantasy XIV at release.
