#MW2 – One huge bundle of controversy?

It’s safe to say that the biggest game of the year is also going to easily be the most controversial. What’s more, it’s not always for the right reasons!
From car batteries, through dollar bills, too airports, some thoughts below…… Read More…

Cry(tek)ing Game – CryENGINE 3 loving + rumours

Crytek have announced that the latest iteration of their CryENGINE – cunningly titled CryENGINE 3 – is now up for licensing!
The new iteration of the engine focuses on optimisation for (*spit*) console platforms without sacrificing the crisp detailed anti-aliased edges of those jungle leaves.
So, if you have your own personal Quake-Life 7 or Call of Booty (yikes!) scribbled down on a napkin, then throw them a (few hundred) bones and a license might very well be yours!
Interestingly, GSC might just have done that…… Read More…
The Last Stand-ening: DoW2 patched to 1.8 – delivers promises

The 1.8 patch for Dawn of War (colloquially referred too as ‘The Last Stand’ patch) is live on Steam, bringing with it (unsurprisingly) the Last Stand game mode along with a load of other tweaks too the game.
The mode allows up to 3 players (playing as Space Marine Captains, Ork Mekboys or Eldar Farseers) to face off against progressively harder waves of Tyranids. Stats are tracked, XP is earned and your favourite warrior(s) are stored against your Live account, such is the way these days.
Trailer and full patch notes after the cut…… Read More…

Modern Warfare 2 Trailer release, delayed

2009 has been all about delays – it’s getting hard to keep track of the number of publishers who have bottled it and pushed games (including titles that would probably sell millions anyway) into fiscal Q1 2010 for fear of having to compete with Activision’s beast that is the latest Call of Duty.
Now, surprisingly, Activision have pushed Modern Warfare 2 back two weeks, landing Nov 24th.… Read More…
Create Your Own Dragon Age Character

Bioware can’t seem to do no wrong – I can’t think of many who don’t love their work with both license properties (Forgotten Realms, MDK2, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic) and their in-house IPs (admittedly more-so Mass Effect than Jade Empire).
Alongside their upcoming foray into the MMO genre (Star Wars: The Old Republic), they’re preping Dragon Age: Origins for release in November.
Prior too this date, a standalone character creator will be released for the PC which can be used to create characters for the full game. The program will connect with the games online … Read More…
