Never before has a post title so essentially decided the tags I attach too it!
PAX 2009 has just finished and, swine-flu not-withstanding, it was a success.
There's a metric ass-load of trailers after the cut, some of which require you to prove that you were born on January 1st, 1900... You have been forewarned!

Seriously, [THQ] have published everything else Games Workshop for the past five years so it's hardly unsurprising that they are bringing the English version of everyone's favourite game of fantasy football with added violence to UK retail and online stores in the form of a tangible release.
The game has been on retail shelves in France, Spain, Germany and a few other retail shelves since mid-june (likely due to licensing) but British gamers have been restricted to a digital download direct from Cyanide for a frankly absurd amount of money.
The game lands for PC, DS & PSP on the 18th of September. The Xbox release will 'follow shortly'.

It seems these days that every expo under the sun is suitable for showing off the latest trailers for games - when the Call Centre Expo in the Brimingham NEC starts showing off the latest 360 releases, they can pay me royalties or something for calling it!

E3 Round-up

With the 2009 Electronic Entertainment Expo is now in the past, lets have a look at the highs and the lows of the event...
Nintendo made so many waves with the Wiimote 3 years ago, it's surprising it's taken Microsoft & Sony so long to get comparable technology out there, but this years E3 will be fondly remembered for both Microsoft's Project Natal and Sony's PS3-nis PlayStation Motion Controller.
Now too the games! For the first time since I can remember, there seem to be almost as many original IPs than sequels. Games such as Realtime World's APB, the clever and damn innovative Scribblenauts & Schafer's Brütal Legend (PC release plskthxbye?) all went down a storm.
Alas, nothing can compare really to the majesty & controversy of the sequels - Assassin's Creed II seems to (on the surface) have definitely made strides over the first game, Modern Warfare 2 looks to be a heart-pounding action game (but can it really step out of the cloud cast by COD4's mushroom cloud?) whilst Left 4 Dead 2 is generating all the wrong publicity - could it be Valve's un-doing?

Sony poach (PAL) Ghostbusters – Bad Times

Mere weeks from release, Sony has decided that the imminent Blu-Ray release of the original Ghostbusters films didn't have enough of a marketing push, therefore they have thrown a hefty chunk of cash towards the as ever terminally-strapped-for-cash Atari.
The result = Platform exclusivity for the PS3 & PS2 (with the PSP coming along later) for the foreseeable future.
What this means for the Xbox 360, PC, Wii or DS releases at the moment is unknown, although rumours state that Atari will be publishing them later (presumably using the bung from Sony as finance, assuming they haven't died off by then).
*sigh* Games industry, I do love you really...
*Update*
It seems that, so far, this only extends to the PAL release (possibly because Atari hates the EU, as evidenced by its spotty history with Steam in the EU).

Lego Rock Band Announced – First Screens

Warner Bros have announced Lego Rock Band for 360, PS3, Wii and DS.
The game aims to be a "family friendly" take on Rock Band and of course, is full of little lego characters and oozing with charm. The game will feature lots of customisation as you would expect from Lego and promises humour too.
Legend of Zelda: Spirt Tracks Trailer

Today at GDC Nintendo announced a new Zelda Game for DS tentatively title "Spirit Tracks".
The game sees Link travelling across the world on a Train solving puzzles and trying to win the heart of the princess or whatever it is he does in these politically correct times.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine Game Debut Trailer

Those lovable scamps at GameTrailers have the world exclusive debut trailer for the game of the film, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the celluloid prequel to the much loved X-Men films (well, apart from The Last Stand - they should have waited on Singer for that one).
There's no actual gameplay footage in the trailer, just a bit of nice looking cutscene, but if EGM's quote from Project Lead Dan Vondrak is too believed, it's going to own.
