Don Mattrick named CEO of Zynga

Zynga have confirmed that Don Mattrick is their new CEO effective 8th July.

Don takes up this post at Zynga following his 6 years at Microsoft (last 3 in charge of the whole interactive entertainment division – basically XBOX) and a stint at EA.

There’s no word from Microsoft as yet as to who will replace Don as head of the IEB, however it was expected that Microsoft were going to announce a reshuffle of their heads of departments in the coming weeks.

We’ll have more on this as and when Microsoft comments.

I’m not sure any of us asked for this, but Square Enix have announced that a new Deus Ex game is coming.

It’s subtitled ‘The Fall’, is coming to iOS in the summer (missed opportunity there, but SE do need the money ASAP) and there’s a video of some guys talking about it and staring quizzically at an iPad after the cut.

Xbox One Not Backwards Compatible with 360 Games

In an interview with The Verge Marc Whitten (Xbox Live VP) confirmed that Xbox One will not feature Xbox 360 backwards compatibility.

This was to be expected with the switch to a different Hardware Architecture making it somewhat difficult – the same problem suffered by the PS4.

Speaking to The Verge he said:

The system is based on a different core architecture, so back-compat doesn’t really work from that perspective.

We’ll have more on the Xbox One as we get it.
